The ammunition used in BB guns

Usually a BB gun uses ammunition that includes BBs made of lead or traditional steel. However, there are different types of specialty ammunition that may be used with BB guns.

A lot of BB gun models use the Air gun pellets with the right diameter. The usual size of the perfect air gun pallets is 4.5 mm (.177 caliber), which can be use din almost all bb guns.

Another type of ammunition which is typically used in the smooth bore BB or air guns is a dart. This dart is actually a small, pointed metal body complete with a string tassel tied on the end. The darts are typically only used in the various low powered guns and are meant for indoor target practice. They are sometimes also used in the dart-shooting tournaments where they replace the usual darts that are thrown using the hand.

The original air gun darts are the ones that were earlier used in the target guns in 20th century Germany. The modern darts used in the BB guns have a bolt that has plastic fins instead of the usual tassels.
